Could iPhone Flash be just around the corner?

I guess the bigger question is, is there actually any point to have a flash enabed browser on the iPhone?

I just read this article on engadget. It basically says that Apple and Adobe are collaborating to develop a new flash player for the iPhone and that they're not going to go down the "lite" route, which means we'll be getting a fully functional flash browser. But does anybody actually really want it?

I've never specifically browsed to a flash based site on my iPhone, and not just because I know it won't work, it's just impractical. People don't want to play flash games on the bus when they can download perfectly good Apps, some even for free.

Most instances, where I've seen a lack of flash, are banner ads and such. I'm not really too fussed about accidentally scrolling over a banner to hear it make a noise while I'm out at Starbucks drinking my Sugar-Free Latte, to have everyone around me throw me glances of disgust and loathing, like I'm some hood cladded youth on the back of the Bus.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for flash on the iPhone. - I mean, the Android gets it, my PS3 and PSP even get it. Hell, it even works on my Windows Desktop. But do really need a bogged down fully functional version of flash? I'd be happy for an .flv player to recognise and stream flash videos, just like the youtube player.

Still, I'd rather turn on my MacBook to see an update including either MMS, a Video Camera utility or Copy and Paste functions.
